Regency Design
In the history of design, the term Regency refers to a variety of styles current during the period 1795-1830 and beyond, thus having a further reach than the contitutional Regency (1810-20).
In a period still dominated by conventional classicism, a multiplicity of other sources were influential, including Egypt, China, and English Gothic.
Notable designers and manufacturers from the first decades of the nineteenth century include George Bullock, Thomas Hope, Marsh & Tatham, John McLean, Morel & Hughes, James Newton, George Oakley and Benjamin & Lewis Vulliamy.
